You can swap:

Celery
Fennel
Carrot
Snow peas
Capsicum
Tomato
Hummus

Tips

  • Eat different coloured vegetables every day to get a variety of nutrients.
  • Hummus contains chickpeas and tahini which both provide fibre. Fibre helps keep you fuller for longer.
  • Capsicum and carrot provide folate. Folate helps reduce tiredness and fatigue.

  • Celery sticks stay crisp if stored in some water.
  • Buy ‘Odd Bunch’, ‘I’m Perfect’ or ‘Imperfect Picks’ celery and carrots to help reduce food waste.
  • Use leftover capsicum in our easy pizza recipe.

  • Choose vegetables in season. They will be cheaper, tastier and better quality.
  • It can be cheaper to make your own hummus.

Method

Step 1
Slice the vegetables into sticks.

Step 2
Serve with a container of hummus.

Food safety tip: if you are packing for lunch, hummus needs to be kept cold so pack an ice brick.
